Battle of the Bridges is an endurance course like no other! In conjunction with the New Zealand Defence Force, local secondary schools compete to design and build a ‘bridge’ to cross a variety of obstacles in a race to the finish line.
Originally, this military tournament saw the Wellington Volunteer Engineers, a regional unit formed in the 1870’s, come to Palmerston North Showgrounds, to take part in this “friendly” competition to win the Scot’s Cup trophy.
Battle of the Bridges will test the secondary school students as they work together in teams to build their bridges and get to the other side before another team beats them to it. There will also be some added obstacles, which they might not be expecting thrown in too.
Team registrations are closed but family, friends and the rest of the city are invited to come down and cheer the teams on as they battle it out for a replica of the prestigious Scot’s Trophy!
Tuesday 9 April, The Square Palmerston North, 10am-2pm.
